THE CITY OF ONAGA, KANSAS, is accepting applications for the full-time or part-time position for Chief of Police.  The Chief performs a variety of routine and complex police work.  This employee must have excellent communication, organizational, reasoning and public relation skills.  The employee in this position enforces all federal, state, and local laws in accordance with departmental rules and regulations.  Duties include but are not limited to enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents and providing public assistance. 

Qualifications:  Must be 21 years of age or older; a U.S. citizen; have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, a high school diploma or equivalent; be in good physical condition; and have a good criminal record free of any serious traffic, misdemeanor, or felony convictions.  Must provide current Kansas law enforcement certification from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center OR upon successful completion of the application process, you will be required to attend the basic course at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC).  Employees must successfully complete a 6-month probationary training and assessment period from the date of employment.  County residency preferred.

Salary will be based on education and experience.  The City of Onaga offers a competitive benefit package.
