The City of Stafford is accepting applications for a career-minded individual who wants to serve the community by protecting citizens as a Full-Time Entry Level Police Officer or a Lateral Transfer Police Officer in a full-service 24-hour department. The Stafford Police Department consists of 4 Full-Time Officers and 2 Part-Time Officers. 

The City of Stafford is located in Stafford County, Kansas, with an estimated population of 1000. Stafford is centrally located between the communities of Hutchinson, Pratt, and Great Bend, while also being 70 miles northwest of Wichita. 

Hours: Full-Time

Salary: Non-Certified Applicants will start at $19.00 hr, with an increase upon the completion of KLETC Basic Training. Certified Applicants pay will be dependent on their qualifications but will range from $21.00-$24.00 hr. 

Description of Job and Benefits

  • Perform general law enforcement duties which include investigation of crime, apprehension of suspects, enforcement of traffic laws, and enforcement of city ordinances.

  • Officers are to have a Proactive and Community Policing approach.

  • Rotating Day/Night Shifts with every other weekend off. 

  • KPERS retirement program.

  • Paid Holiday, vacation, and sick time. 

  • Performance-based pay increases.

  • All uniforms and equipment supplied.

  • Take home vehicle.

  • $2500 training per officer annually. 

  • Paid memberships to Recreation Center and City Pool for all family. 

  • Holiday bonus and yearly retention pay. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be United States citizen.

  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

  • Must not have been convicted of a felony crime or a crime involving domestic violence.

  • Possess a minimum High School Diploma or GED.

  • Successfully pass all phases of the police hiring process. 

  • Possess or can possess a valid KS driver’s license.

  • KLETC Certification preferred but not required.

  • Must reside within Stafford City limits within 60 days.
