NOW HIRING – PATROL DEPUTY

The Ness County Sheriff’s Office, located in Ness City, Kansas, is accepting applications for the position of Patrol Deputy. We are seeking motivated, professional, and community-oriented individuals dedicated to public service and law enforcement.

POSITION: Patrol Deputy

Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Ness County, Kansas

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Hourly Pay: $18.41 – $20.55 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Senior Patrol Deputy Hourly pay: 20.44 – 21.48 (based on experience and qualification
  • On-Call Pay: $500 per month
  • Overtime: In accordance with county policy and Kansas law

    • Training opportunities, including KLETC certification if applicable

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
  • Hold a valid driver’s license
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Have no Brady/Giglio disqualifiers
  • Be eligible for CPOST certification and attendance at KLETC

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patrol assigned areas of Ness County to preserve peace and enforce laws
  • Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and citizen requests
  • Conduct traffic enforcement and crash investigations
  • Perform preliminary and follow-up criminal investigations
  • Prepare detailed reports, affidavits, and court documentation
  • Testify in court as required
  • Maintain positive community relations and professional conduct

HIRING PROCESS

Qualified applicants will complete a multi-phase hiring process, which includes:

  • Application and Personal History Statement
  • Preliminary interview
  • Written testing
  • Comprehensive background investigation
  • Truth verification (if applicable)
  • Psychological evaluation, medical exam, and drug screening
  • Final approval and oath of office
