The City of Council Grove, the county seat of Morris County Kansas, is a beautiful town within the Flinthills of Morris County situated in Northeast Kansas. Located 35 minutes south of Manhattan and an hour southwest of Topeka. Approximately 2,200 residents live in the area, including those around Council Grove City Lake. The town itself is quite busy, with Highway 56 and Highway 177 intersecting in the middle of town. Council Grove has a grocery store, multiple shops downtown, local food establishments, a county run hospital, a Casey’s being built, excellent education opportunities in our local schools, and the Council Grove Life Center among other things. Council Grove proudly boasts its many historic sites, more than 25 of which have attained national recognition. The nearby Council Grove City Lake and Council Grove Federal Reservoir attract fishermen, boaters, and campers from all across the United States. The Kaw Mission State Historic Site in Council Grove and the Kaw Nation’s Allegawaho Memorial Heritage Park along the Flint Hills Nature Trail tells the story of the Kaw (or Kansa) Indian Tribe, whose reservation was located here from 1847 to 1873.
Currently, the department has seven employees: a Chief, a Lieutenant, a K9 Officer, 3 road officers and a part-time officer.
Fleet consists of a Ford Explorer, and Chevy Tahoes
Hours: Full-time & Part-Time
Shifts: 12 hour shifts with every other weekend off when staffed (3-4-3)
Will be required to work days, evenings, and nights as needed. Holiday work is required.
Axon Fleet 3 with ALPR in patrol cars. Recently, we implemented Taser 10's.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must have a valid Kansas driver's license with a good driving record.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be in good physical condition.
- Must not have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence, serious traffic ormisdeamenor, orany felony or its equivalent.
- KLETC certified or eligible for reciprocity from another statepreferred.
- Must have above average written and oral communication skills.
In addition to a psychological examination, physical examination, and drug screen, we will conduct an extensive background investigation covering previous employment history, references, criminal history, and driving record.
