The North Newton Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Patrol Officer.

We are seeking motivated, professional, and community-oriented candidates who are committed to proactive policing, public service, and protecting the residents of North Newton. Officers with integrity, initiative, and strong communication skills are encouraged to apply.

Position Summary

Patrol Officers perform a wide variety of law enforcement duties including:

  • Patrol operations and proactive policing 

  • Traffic enforcement and crash investigations 

  • Criminal investigations and report writing 

  • Responding to calls for service 

  • Community engagement and public assistance 

  • Enforcement of federal, state, and local laws 

  • Court appearances and evidence handling 

Officers work closely with citizens, neighboring agencies, and community partners to maintain a safe and professional policing environment. 

Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age 

  • Possess a valid Kansas driver’s license 

  • Pass a criminal background investigation 

  • Be Kansas law enforcement certified, or able to obtain certification within one year of hire 

  • Demonstrate strong communication and decision-making skills 

KLETC certification is preferred but not required. 

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $22.55 – $31.57 per hour (DOE)

Work Schedule

Officers must be willing to work:

  • Rotating shifts 

  • Nights, weekends, and holidays 

  • Special events and emergency call-outs
