This position will supervise and manage the facility operations of the KDOC EAI sections, acting as liaison between those sections and outside agencies, and providing logistical support as needed.

This position can be located at any of our locations below:

•              Central Office

•              Lansing Correctional Facility

•              Topeka Correctional Facility

•              Ellsworth Correctional Facility

•              Hutchinson Correctional Facility

•              Norton Correctional Facility

•              El Dorado Correctional Facility

•              Winfield Correctional Facility

•              Larned Correctional Facility

Starting salary for this position: $72,300.80/annual ($34.76/hr.)

Minimum Qualifications: 

Four years direct experience in criminal justice, social science,  behavioral sciences or public administration plus three years of supervisory and/or administrative management experience in the field of corrections.

Must be able to effectively provide credible testimony to sustain a conviction; therefore, the applicant must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background to be eligible for hiring.  This position requires the use of a firearm for law enforcement duties.  Therefore, to be eligible for appointment, candidates cannot be prohibited from shipping, transporting, possessing, or receiving a firearm or ammunition under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or (n), K.S.A 2013 Supp. 21-6301, or K.S.A. 2013 Supp. 21-6304.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Certification as a Corrections Officer or Law Enforcement Officer by a recognized governing body.

• Five (5) years' experience in law enforcement, corrections, or detention work

• Three (3) years' experience in supervisory duties in corrections or law enforcement. 

• Excellent written communication skills; personal presence and impact, with a proven ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds

• Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision including delegation of work, training of subordinates, performance evaluation, motivation, and discipline. 

• Knowledge of criminal law, law enforcement, personnel and criminal investigations procedures and practices.

• Knowledge of Security Threat Groups and Criminal Street Gangs.

• Knowledge of the Prison Rape Elimination Act.

• Knowledge of controlled substances and the laws governing them.

• Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and personnel directives.

• Knowledge of computers and word processing.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all activities

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history records check.
