The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the position of Detective. The duties of a Detective are as follows, but not limited to:
- Detects, identifies, apprehends, and assists in the prosecution of violent and non-violent criminal offenders
- Collects, analyzes and verifies information received during an investigation
- Writes affidavits and search warrants
- Executes and supervises search warrants, and arrest warrants
- Takes charge of crime scenes under investigation
- Uses education, training, and experience to determine if probable cause exists for arrest warrants, and executes arrests without warrants when appropriate
- Recognizes, collects, processes and preserves physical evidence for court.
- Diagrams scenes, takes photographs, lifts latent finger prints, gathers and collects evidence.
- Completes written reports and testifies in court
- Takes call for crime scene and investigation call out
Minimum qualifications for this position:
- At least 5-years of law enforcement experience
- Self-motivated and driven to get the job done
- Experience writing reports, affidavits, and search warrants
- No Brady and Giglio issues
- Current Kansas law enforcement certification or eligible for reciprocity from another state
- Currently employed as a law enforcement officer or recently separated
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- No felony convictions, and pass a back ground check
- Must pass a drug, hearing, and physical agility testing
Salary – Depends on qualifications
