Job Responsibilities:
The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards & Training (KSCPOST) seeks to fill a part-time investigator position located in Wichita, KS. The Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (KSCPOST) is committed to providing the citizens of Kansas with qualified, trained, ethical, competent, and professional peace officers. It is also dedicated to adopting and enforcing professional standards for certification of peace officers to promote public safety and preserve public trust and confidence. One method the Commission utilizes to meet our statutory obligations to the citizens and law enforcement community is to review and take disciplinary action against the certifications of officers who violate the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act (KLETA) - K.S.A. 74-5601 et seq. and related Kansas Administrative Regulations (KARs). KSCPOST investigators conduct thorough, independent and complex investigations into alleged violations of the KLETA and present the results of these investigations to the Commission for review and possible disciplinary action.
- PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Conduct thorough, independent and complex investigations of alleged violations of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Act (KLETA) - K.S.A. 74-5601 et seq. and related Kansas Administrative Regulations (KARs). Gathers documents and reports, conducts in-person and telephone interviews, gathers and preserves evidence, authors detailed and concise written reports for presentation of alleged violations to the Commission. Present testimony and evidence to the Commission during hearings and court proceedings. Assist with miscellaneous projects and provide internal agency advice, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications
- Current certification as a Kansas law enforcement officer, or current/active certification in another State of the United States or as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with ability to obtain Kansas law enforcement certification within three (3) months of date of hire.
- A minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience as a full-time law enforcement officer.
- A minimum of three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience conducting complex investigations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as evidenced in the application materials and in-person interview(s).
- A valid Kansas Driver's License (minimal travel may be required).
- Ability to establish, maintain and cultivate positive relationships with agency heads, Internal Affairs Units, Investigators and other criminal justice professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ten (10) or more years of increasingly responsible experience as a full-time law enforcement officer.
- Five (5) or more years of increasingly responsible experience conducting complex investigations.
- Documented experience conducting internal affair investigations.
- Bachelor's Degree from an institution accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations in the United States.
- Successful completion of advanced executive training such as the FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute or FBI-LEEDA Trilogy.

- A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
