    The city of Kechi is a suburb of Wichita. It sits east of Park City and north of Bel Aire. The Police Department is charged with protecting and serving the citizens of Kechi. The Department enforces federal, state, and municipal laws while protecting all citizens’ civil rights. Officers respond to calls and concerns of citizens, enforce traffic laws, assist outside agencies, provide routine patrol of the community, along with other duties.

    The applicant is expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent, a current driver’s license with a good driving record; applicants must be 21 years of age and able to pass a background check.  KLETC certification and prior law enforcement experience preferred but not needed at time of application.

    Starting hourly rate: 23.88- 29.82

    One time sign on bonus up to $10,000 for certified applicants (given in four payments)

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • The Police Officer position protects and serves the citizens of the City of Bel Aire by enforcing all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

    • Works under the general supervision of the Police Chief and other supervisory personnel.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Enforces all federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
    • Performs routine patrol duties and responds to traffic control duties.
    • Makes arrests and issues traffic citations.
    • Responds to emergency situations and calls for police service.
    • Prepares reports and official documents.
    • Interviews witnesses, suspects, and victims.
    • Executes warrants and serves legal documents.
    • Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
    • Cooperates with other public safety agencies and City departments as needed.
    • Acts as departmental liaison with other law enforcement and governmental agencies at the request of the Police Chief.
    • Investigates crimes and accidents.
    • Testifies in court.
    • Assist with the enforcement of health and zoning ordinances.
    • Seizes, preserves evidence; provides security to City facilities, personnel, and operations.
    • Ensures the effective operation of equipment and vehicles and ensures department compliance with applicable governmental rules and regulations.

    DESIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or GED. College Degree Preferred.
    • Must be 21 years of age.
    • No Felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
    • U.S. Citizen.
    • This position requires 40 hours of continuing education annually.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to operate basic law enforcement equipment such as radios, computers, and radar; Intoxilyzer certification is preferred.
    • Must be able to periodically qualify with firearms.

    The Paola Police Department is currently searching for motivated individuals for the full-time position of Police Officer.  The city of Paola Is located 18 miles south of Olathe, Kansas and the Greater Kansas City Metro Area.  The Paola Police Department consists of 18 sworn officers and 7 civilian employees, as well as its own communications and detention centers.  Those selected to fill this position will be responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws, investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic crashes, assisting the public, and serving on a TEAM that takes great pride in serving and protecting its community.  State certified officers are preferred but not required.
