The Sedgwick Police Department is seeking a highly motivated individual, with a desire to serve our community as the next Chief of Police. Sedgwick is located on the Harvey/Sedgwick County border approximately 15 miles from Newton and Wichita. The City of Sedgwick offers a strong benefit package that includes 100% coverage for individual and family health care and dental. 50% coverage for individual and family vision. **Retirement is currently through KPERS, but the City is evaluating affiliating with KP&F starting January 1, 2025. **

The Chief of Police position is a salary position with a starting salary of $65,000. All uniforms and equipment, including a take-home vehicle, are provided. The City enjoys 13 paid holidays a years and a mild call volume of 1,000 per year. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years experience as a sworn police officer is preferred. Candidates must satisfy all state requirements as set forth in K.S.A 74-5605 or certification by reciprocity. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.
