The Winfield Police Department is currently seeking to fill vacant position/s within our agency.  We are giving incentives to certified law enforcement officers willing to join our progressive or forward-looking staff to answer those calls for service. All applications must be submitted electronically through www.winfieldks.org Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, be a U.S. Citizen, have obtained their High School Diploma or GED, and have no current or prior felony or domestic violence convictions. 

Winfield, Kansas is located 42 miles southeast of Wichita and is positioned for steady and continuous growth. The Winfield Police Department has a strong team of 23 full-time and part-time officers, along with 4 full-time and 1 part-time civilian employees.  We are seeking individuals who are ready and able to meet new and exciting challenges. The Winfield Police Department is looking for enthusiastic individuals who will uphold and embrace the department’s core values of integrity, fairness, excellence, and loyalty. 

The Winfield Police Department is expecting the addition of a new facility towards the end of 2024 into the first part of 2025. This new facility will be complete with a large conference/training room, a break room with full kitchen, and an indoor/outdoor exercise area that will be shared with the Winfield Fire Department.

The pay range for a patrol officer is between $19.05 and top end is $27.85 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. For lateral transfers of certified officers starting pay will be $20.00 minimum depending on qualifications/years of experience. The City of Winfield also offers all full-time officers Kansas Police and Fire Retirement.

  • Overtime for any Hours Worked Over 84 Hours in a Two Week Pay Period for Any Extra Duties Assigned 

  • 12-hour shifts (6am to 6pm day) (6pm to 6am nights) rotating every three months

  • Compensation for All Completed Training 

  • Ten Paid Holidays Per Year 

  • One Paid Personal Day Per Year with Additional Days Off When Contributing to the Legacy Foundation and/or United Way 

  • Tuition Reimbursement Program for College Classes, up to $2,500/year

  • Corporate Rate Pricing for Memberships through the Winfield Recreation/Fitness Center
