    The City of Lyndon will be accepting applications for the position of part time officer to work up to 16 hours a week. Minimum requirements include high school graduate or have GEDEquivalent, 21-years of age at the time of appointment, pass a background check, no criminal record, U.S. Citizen and must hold a valid Kansas driver's license. CPOST certified preferred, but not required.

    Duties and responsibilities include enforcing all state and local laws and ordinances; taking calls for service; patrolling business districts and residential neighborhoods to deter and detect crime; investigating complaints; citing and/or arresting law violators; following up on pending reports and cases; protecting person(s) or property; and provides animal control services. When not responding to calls for service, department members are expected to use self-directed work time in an efficient manner by self-initiating work on those tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position.

    Base Salary $19.50 - $21.00 per hour and based on qualifications.

    The Team

    The team members in Compliance, Enforcement and Anti-Fraud are collaborative and hardworking and have the optimal goal to protect consumers against insurance and securities fraud in the State of Kansas. The team collaborates to make the best decisions possible for the Kansas Department of Insurance and Kansas consumers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct investigations relating to insurance and securities fraud.
    • Identify, contact and interview victims, witnesses, and principles; take statements from witnesses, complainants, and affected persons or their representatives to gather and evaluate evidence relevant to the allegation or claim.
    • Prepare written reports of investigation findings. Prepare case for presentation to a superior, prosecuting authority, law enforcement agencies, or other state departments, administrative hearings or in court.
    • Analyze a variety of records to determine operational and financial condition of an entity, including business plans, use of investment capital proceeds, and disclosure of material information, in relation to requirements of state and federal insurance and securities laws and regulations. • Prepare and serve orders of subpoenas, affidavits, and warrants. Appear to attest to affidavits and testify as a witness in court and in administrative proceedings.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Kansas Certification in Law Enforcement.
    • One year of experience working in the securities or insurance industry or in a regulatory environment.
    • Professional experience or credentials may be considered to substitute for securities or regulatory experience if deemed equivalent by the Department.

    The City of Kingman is seeking candidates for a vacancy in its Police Department.  The City has seven (7) full time officers and provides 24/7 police services.  

    Minimum qualifications require candidates to be Kansas residents, 21 years of age at time of appointment, possess a valid Kansas driver’s license, possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, and be a U.S. citizen.  The preferred candidates will have full-time law enforcement experience, hold current Kansas CPOST certification, and be currently employed as a full-time police officer in Kansas.  Candidates without experience will also be accepted for this position, with continued employment contingent on the successful completion of Kansas CPOST certification training.

    About the Police Department
    The Oberlin Police Department (OPD) is a dedicated team of four full-time Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs). Each full-time sworn LEO is assigned a vehicle and responds to calls as needed. The Sheriff's Office maintains a 12-bed jail facility in the courthouse, located in Oberlin, which the OPD may utilize. While it is preferred that OPD officers live within city limits for on-call coverage and emergency callout needs, requests for outside residency may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    The OPD and the Decatur County Sheriff's Office enjoy an excellent working relationship. All city OPD officers are currently sworn deputy sheriffs with authority throughout the county.

    About the Job
