    Essential Functions

    • Patrols the city to preserve law and order; to prevent and discover crime; and enforce laws and regulations.

    • Schedules police personnel to provide adequate police staffing for shifts, special events and court duty.

    Pay starts at $25.50/hourly equaling $53,040/annualy. Commissioned experience can be taken into consideration for increased pay rate at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Candidates recommended for hire will be required to successfully complete a fitness assessment, pre-employment drug screen, deception testing, psychological exam, and physical exam.

    The Valley Center Police Department is soliciting highly motivated individual for the fulltime position of School Resource Officer/Police Officer.

    The person selected to fill open position will be assigned to the high school during the school year upholding federal, state and local laws. This position is responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn. When school is out responsibilities will include enforcing local, state, and federal laws, as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic collisions, and assisting the public.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of two years prior law enforcement preferred 
    • Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a good driving record 
    • Pass an extensive background check, psychological evaluation, pre-employment physical and drug test 
    • Must be of good moral character  Must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background

    Salary range:

    • $23.22-$30.96  DOQ

    Six-month review with potential for an increase. Annual Reviews with potential for an increase every December

    • Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment 
    • Must possess a valid state drivers license with a good driving record.

    Salary range:

    • Non-Certified $20.35-$25.80 
    • Certified DOQ $23.22-$30.96
