    The Valley Falls Police Department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as a Full-Time Police Officer. The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring public safety, enforcing laws, protecting citizens, and maintaining order within the City of Valley Falls.     Key Responsibilities: 

    • Patrol and Community Engagement: Regularly patrol assigned areas, including neighborhoods, streets, and public spaces, to prevent and respond to criminal activity, maintain public order, and ensure the safety of residents. 

    • Law Enforcement: Enforce local, state, and federal laws, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal codes and ordinances. Respond to emergency calls, conduct traffic stops, and perform arrests as necessary. 

    • Investigation: Investigate crimes, accidents, and incidents; gather evidence, take statements, and prepare reports; follow up on investigations to ensure successful case resolution. 

    • Public Interaction: Provide support and assistance to the community, including responding to public inquiries, assisting with non-criminal incidents, and serving as a visible and approachable figure in the community. 

    • Report Writing: Complete accurate and thorough reports for incidents, arrests, accidents, and other police activities. Submit all paperwork and documentation in a timely manner. 

    • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work with fellow officers, local agencies, and the community to address safety concerns, solve problems, and share information regarding ongoing investigations. 

    • Compliance and Training: Stay current with all relevant laws, police procedures, and departmental protocols. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to improve skills and effectiveness as a police officer. 

    Qualifications: 

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. 

    • Experience: Previous experience in law enforcement or a related field is preferred, but not required. Willing to consider candidates with the appropriate training and a strong desire to serve. 

    • Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid police officer certification in the state of Kansas.  

    • Physical Requirements: Must be in good physical condition and capable of performing the physical duties required of a police officer, including running, lifting, and maintaining physical endurance during shifts. 

    • Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Must possess a high level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion. 

    • Other: Must be age 21 or older, have a valid driver's license, and be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation. No Brady/Giglio violations or KSCPOST sanctions or disqualifications.

    The Baxter Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for highly motivated individuals to fill Full time and Part time Patrol Officer position(s). Baxter Springs is a community of approximately 4,000 citizens, covering approximately 1,200 square miles. Baxter Springs is approximately 11 miles west from the Missouri state line, with the Oklahoma state line being on the south side of town. Route 66 runs through downtown Baxter Springs.

    Hours: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off, and a Bi-Weekly pay schedule.

    Pay scale:

    • Starting at $31,200 for uncertified officers.

    • Starting at $33,280 for certified officers, with additional compensation for years of service, and qualifications.

    Benefits: 

    • Officers are eligible for on-call and overtime when needed.

    Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, the Police Officer performs duties in the protection of life, property and the preservation of order in the City of Lyons. The employee in this position enforces all federal, state and local laws in accordance with departmental rules, policies, and regulations. Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. This employee will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. This work involves an element of personal danger. This is a non-exempt position. Officers with the Lyons Police Department work a 12-hour rotating shift with every other weekend off to include Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Lyons Police Department is consisted of 7-fulltime commissioned Officers and 1-parttime Officer. Must be highly motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.  

    Salary Range:

    Essential Functions: 

    • Be knowledgeable of all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.

    High school diploma or GED required. Commissioned as a law enforcement officer requires graduation from law enforcement training center (K.L.E.T.C. Certification) and 40 hours of continuing education training annually.

    Position – Fire Investigator Supervisor

    Introductory Statement about the Position –

    Work is supervisory and technical in nature. Assisting in directing the field operations of the Investigation Division.

    Conducts investigations to determine origin and cause of fires and explosions. Conducts criminal investigations into violations of the arson criminal code, including other criminal offenses that impel arson. Investigates, inspects, and maintains accurate records on permits and/or licenses issued by the OSFM for those who apply for inspection of explosives and fireworks.

    Requirements for Position –

    Licensing & Certification

    • Current certification as a full-time law enforcement officer by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission as required by K.S.A. 74-5601a. Out of state certifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
    • Hazardous Materials Operations Certificate or complete the 40-hour course within the first year of employment.
    • Hazardous Materials Technician Certificate or complete the 40-hour course within the first year of employment.
    • Explosives Awareness Certificate or complete the 40-hour course within the first year of employment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
    • Certified Fire Investigator.
    • Five years of fire investigation experience.

    • Experience in processing crime scenes and collecting evidence.
    • Experience with writing affidavits and submitting requests for search warrants.
    • Knowledge of court procedures and experience testifying in criminal matters.

    Under supervision of the Deputy Attorney General, the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) and/or the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC), the Special Agent will perform duties to include, but are not limited to, the following:

    • Obtain evidence or establish facts by witness interviews; procure and analyze records to include computer, legal, financial, medical and investigative files.
    • Conduct surveillance or participate in undercover assignments, as needed.
    • Develop accurate, detailed and impartial reports of investigative findings and provide recommendations for civil, criminal, or administrative action.
    • Prepare, apply for and execute search and arrest warrants.
    • Testify as an investigative witness in criminal court proceedings resulting from investigations.
    • Assist in review of cases to determine scope, timing and direction of investigations.
    • Work alongside assistant attorneys general to develop cases for criminal trials.
    • Serve subpoenas or other official papers.
    • Serve as a liaison between the OAG and local county and district attorneys, law enforcement and regulatory agencies.
    • Provide dignitary protection as assigned, sometimes requiring long periods of standing or walking. 
    • Qualify with an approved firearm in compliance with the Kansas Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. 
    • Provide law enforcement training and/or community-based presentations to various stakeholders as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Licensing & Certification

    • Currently or previously certified as a commissioned law enforcement officer in Kansas or in another state. To be certified by the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers' Standards and Training (KS-CPOST) this includes, among other requirements, that the candidate must:
      • be a United States citizen and at least 21 years of age
      • have graduated from a high school accredited by the Kansas state board of education or the appropriate accrediting agency of another state jurisdiction or have obtained the equivalent of a high school education as defined by rules and regulations of the Commission
      • be of good moral character sufficient to warrant the public trust in the applicant as a police officer or law enforcement officer
      • not have been convicted of a crime that would constitute a felony under the laws of the state, a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a misdemeanor offense that the Commission determines reflects on the honesty, trustworthiness, integrity or competence of the applicant as define by rules and regulations of the Commission

    As used in this section, “conviction” includes rendering of judgment by a military court martial pursuant to the uniform code of military justice, by a court of the United States or by a court of competent jurisdiction in any state, whether or not expunged; and any diversion agreement entered into for a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and any diversion agreement entered into on or after July 1, 1995, for a felony.

    • Officers from other states must be eligible for certification in Kansas. Previously certified officers must be eligible for reinstatement/re-certification and may not have been decertified due to misconduct or other derogatory information.
    • A valid driver's license

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Graduation from a high school accredited by the Kansas State Board of Education or the appropriate accrediting agency of another state jurisdiction or have obtained the equivalent of a high school education.
    • At least one (1) year of experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer
    • Able to effectively testify in court; Applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background in order to be eligible for hire
    • Strong proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
    • Familiarity with mobile device software to include the ability to use a smartphone

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in criminal justice, business administration, or related field(s)

    •  Provide emergency aid as needed, including responding to medical and fire calls.   

    •  Complete appropriate reports, forms, logs, and other paperwork as required. 

    •  Operates a patrol vehicle for the prevention of crime.

    •  Responds to calls for service.

    •  Testify in court when subpoenaed. 

    •  Serves and protects the citizens of Greensburg, giving directions and information to the public. 

    •  Participates in safety conferences and programs.

    •  Participates in civic and professional activities and meetings.

    • Animal Control Duties

    This work schedule will require weekends, holidays, shift work, some overtime, and court appearances.  

    Salary: $16.62-$28.32 an hour, depending on experience and qualifications. 

    Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, possess a valid Driver’s License, possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. and have no Felony, serious misdemeanor, or Domestic Violence convictions. Applicants must pass an extensive background investigation and an oral interview. Applicants must be able to legally possess a firearm to carry out duties needed to perform this job. A conditional job offer requires a drug test, psychological examination, and physical examination. 

    Current KLETC Certification is required.
