    The Gray County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking a motivated individual for Full-Time Patrol Deputy within our agency. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to; patrol work, responding to emergency calls, dispatched calls, conducting investigations, interviewing, gathering evidence, serving warrants, civil process, enforcing traffic laws, enforcing federal and state laws, preparing reports, and the ability to work with the public of Gray County. Deputy in this position must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in handling emergencies. Benefits include take home patrol vehicle, family, or single health insurance with 100% paid premium, dental, and Kansas Police and Fire retirement. Employees will have access to the Wellness Center at the Gray County Recreation Building. Deputies work rotating 12 hour shifts with every other 3-day weekend off. Paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays. Gray County Sheriff's Office will provide uniforms, equipment, duty pistol, rifle, shotgun, laptop computer, department issued cell phone, and Taser 7.

    SALARY: Non-Certified $20.25 per hour.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    High School diploma or GED, must be at least 21 years of age, be a United States Citizen, possess a valid driver's license and have no felony or domestic violence convictions. Certified Kansas Law Enforcement Officer required. County residency is required if hired. Applicants must have no Brady/Giglio material in their background that would make them ineligible for hire. Shift schedules will include, holidays, court appearances and overtime. Applicants will be subject to an oral interview, a thorough background check, and additional conditional job testing.     We maintain a high degree of efficiency by offering our officers new, up-to-date equipment that is a must for getting the job done!  Each officer with the Norton Police Department has their own take-home patrol car.  Each patrol vehicle is outfitted with its own MDT unit (Mobile Data Terminal) specific to the officer. These in-car laptops make it easy for an officer to complete reports in the field, access the RMS reporting system, check for wants and warrants on subjects you may encounter, access the department’s server to review other reports, special patrols, check statutes, policies, etc. The MDT’s also allow for driver’s licenses and vehicle license plate inquiries through NCIC when necessary and prudent. Besides MDT’s, our well-maintained patrol vehicles are also fully equipped with AR-15 patrol rifles, newly added less lethal weaponry, stop sticks, etc.  We have also recently implemented an automated evidence custody system.   

    Norton is located in Norton County, Kansas. Our community borders Nebraska and we are the fourth county east of Colorado. The Prairie Dog State Park (Sebelius Reservoir) is located 4 miles west of Norton, offering great camping, boating and is one of the top fishing lakes in the state of Kansas! The area offers great hunting too!  South of Norton is one of the most highly maintained 9-hole golf courses in the area.  Norton also offers an exceptional school system. U.S. Highways 36 and 283 intersect in the middle of Norton, offering plenty of opportunity for drug interdiction. 

    The Norton Police Department is currently comprised of 7 officers: Chief of Police, Assistant Chief of Police, Sergeant/FTO and 4 patrol officers. Each officer is provided a tailored outer carrier molle police ballistic vest purchased by the department and is issued a Class A uniform to be worn for court and special services.

    Shifts: Our officers enjoy 12 hour shifts that allow for, every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday OFF regardless of seniority level.  All shifts primarily consist of two patrol officers.   

    Salary: The range for this position is $23.92-32.73/hour, depending on education and previous law enforcement experience and/or certifications. There is additional compensation through opportunities for overtime and shift differential as well.  Currently evaluating salary scale with the objective to increase pay.

    The City of Ellsworth (pop 3000+) is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  Ellsworth is conveniently located only 7 miles from I-70, and 35 minutes from Salina and Great Bend, along with only a 30 min drive to two Kansas reservoirs (Wilson and Kanopolis).

    This position will be responsible for conducting law enforcement duties to include but not limited to patrol, investigations, as well as other assigned duties.  The Ellsworth Police Department covers the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week utilizing 12-hour shifts.  Shift schedules are normally comprised of two days on, two days off, then three days on which reverse every week.  The Ellsworth Police Department is comprised of 7 F/T Officers (including Chief) and 1 Court Clerk.    

    Hours: Full Time

    Salary: Starting salary for a non-certified law enforcement officer (Police Officer 1A) is $17 per hour. Starting salary for a certified law enforcement officer is dependent on qualifications (see below).  The Ellsworth Police Department participates in the KP&F retirement system.  The City of Ellsworth has 8 paid holidays in addition to giving 2 personal paid holidays each year.  The Department provides uniforms and equipment for each officer.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work with fellow officers, local agencies, and the community to address safety concerns, solve problems, and share information regarding ongoing investigations. 

    • Compliance and Training: Stay current with all relevant laws, police procedures, and departmental protocols. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to improve skills and effectiveness as a police officer. 

    Qualifications: 

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. 

    • Experience: Previous experience in law enforcement or a related field is preferred, but not required. Willing to consider candidates with the appropriate training and a strong desire to serve. 

    • Certification: Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid police officer certification in the state of Kansas.  

    • Physical Requirements: Must be in good physical condition and capable of performing the physical duties required of a police officer, including running, lifting, and maintaining physical endurance during shifts. 

    • Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations. Must possess a high level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.

    The Baxter Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for highly motivated individuals to fill Full time and Part time Patrol Officer position(s). Baxter Springs is a community of approximately 4,000 citizens, covering approximately 1,200 square miles. Baxter Springs is approximately 11 miles west from the Missouri state line, with the Oklahoma state line being on the south side of town. Route 66 runs through downtown Baxter Springs.

    Pay scale:
