    Meade County Sheriff's Office is seeking an individual for a full-time Deputy Sheriff position. This position is responsible for performing uniformed patrol duties and enforcing all federal, state, and local laws. 

    • Pay Range $17.51-23.82
    • 12 hour rotating day and night shifts in 4-month increments

    The City of Belle Plaine, Kansas is accepting applications to fill the position of School Resource Officer/D.A.R.E. Officer for the 2024-2025 School Year. Under the supervision of the Chief of Police this position will serve as a School Resource Officer/D.A.R.E. Officer for the Belle Plaine School District USD 357. During periods when school is not in session this position will serve as Patrol Officer for the City of Belle Plaine. D.A.R.E Instructor (Officer) is for 5th grade students (10 weeks) and 4 to 5 weeks of D.A.R.E Instruction for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th grade. The City of Belle Plaine will cover D.A.R.E Training (14 days) expenses. The State of Kansas requires candidates for this position to have been a certified law enforcement officer for at least 2 years. The SRO officer will attend specialized training if the candidate has not completed the Basic Training for an SRO position.

    Hours may vary depending on school activities and the needs of the City during school breaks. The SRO is expected to attend all home football and basketball activities as well as other activities. A typical work day for an SRO is Monday – Friday 7:30am to 3:30pm.

    Successful candidates must be able to work with youth and serve as a positive role model for students. Candidates for this position must be professional and motivated, with a strong moral character and an interest in protecting and serving the students and staff of the Belle Plaine School District USD 357, and the residents of Belle Plaine. Candidates should possess a community-oriented mindset and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Key components of job duties are as follows but not limited to:

    • Work with school administration staff

    • Be present in areas of student congregation

    • Build relationships with students of all ages (Promote informal student-SRO contact)
