    Hiring Incentives

    • Certified $10,000

    Starting Pay for a currently certified officer will depend upon experience and qualifications:

    • $24.41 - $26.29 for 2 to 5 years of applicable experience
    • $26.29 - $27.62 for 5 to 7 years of applicable experience
    • $27.62 - $29.74 for 7 to 10+ years of applicable experience
    • Bilingual Pay
    • Shift differential Pay

    The base starting pay for a non-certified officer will be a combination of the following factors:

    • $22.19 per hour
    • 2% increase in starting pay for prior military experience
    • 1% increase in starting pay for an Associate's Degree
    • 1% increase in pay for a Bachelor's Degree
    • Bilingual Pay
    • Shift Differential Pay

    To be considered for employment as a Park City Police Officer, an applicant must:

    The Emporia Police Department is looking for individuals who are looking to “be the change” in our community.  Law enforcement is a fast-paced and exciting career field.  It requires someone to be able to work on their own and in a team environment.  We are looking for new recruits or lateral transfers.  The position of police officer performs duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in the City of Emporia.  This position enforces all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances and assists with investigations.  Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. This employee will be required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency situations.

    As a police officer recruit the starting pay will be $21.42 per hour.  After one year of service, the pay increases to $25.70 per hour.

    Patrol Officer pay range - $25.70 to $40.62 per hour.

    Master Police Officer after 8 years of law enforcement experience.  Lateral transfer years of service will count towards Master Police Officer.

    Master Police Officer pay range – $32.82 to $51.87 per hour.

    Lateral transfer pay is based on experience.

    12-hour shifts with a built-in 4 hours of overtime per pay period.

    Associate’s Degree adds $.50 per hour to pay.

    Bachelor’s Degree adds $1 per hour to pay.

    Spanish bi-lingual adds $1 per hour to pay.

    The Parsons Police Department is expanding and is recruiting for both recruit and lateral (experienced) police officers. As a community-oriented police agency we subscribe to a ‘guardian philosophy’ of policing. A recent community survey gave the agency a 96% favorable rating in our service provided to the community. The men and women of the Parsons Police Department are committed to our values of Pride, Professionalism and Dedication. 

    The City of Parsons is the 37th largest city in Kansas and is the largest community in Labette County. Parsons schools are routinely rated as superior, housing prices are affordable, and Parsons retains a small-town feel.

    The Parsons Police Department is a 28-sworn member agency that is in the self-assessment phase of accreditation with the Kansas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (KLEAP). A new 50,000 sq foot Public Safety Center is in the planning stages (and purchased, architectural designs completed). A new 300-degree use of force simulator has been installed, the regional KLETC Training Center is operating in a police annex, and half of the agency employees hold one or more instructor ratings. 

    Patrol officers work a 12-hour shift working only 15 days a month. Officers also enjoy excellent benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance, KP&F retirement, vacation, holidays, sick leave, and there are additional monthly incentives for selected instructor ratings, FTO’s and special assignments that can total up to a maximum of $5,400 in annual incentive pay.

    Free tuition paid at Labette Community College to obtain as associate degree.

    The starting wage for non-certified candidates (Officer 1) starts at $42,995. Certified candidates are given credit for prior service and can fall into the Officer 1 range that tops out at $49,123 or be considered for the Officer 2 range ($55,841 with a top out at $63,688), depending on experience and qualifications.

    SALARY  The starting wage for non-certified candidates is $18.99 hr., increasing to $19.97 hr. at 6 months. Certified candidates can earn a starting wage ranging from 21.05 to 28.65 hr., depending on experience and qualifications. 

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include, high school or GED diploma, 21-years of age at time of appointment, no felony or DV history.
