    All applicants must pass a drug screen and have vision correctable to 20/20 and successfully pass the written and physical agility testing that is provided through registration at the Johnson County Regional Police Academy (JCRPA).

    Work schedule requires weekend, holiday, rotating shift work, overtime and court appearances.

    Certified law enforcement applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in background to be eligible for hiring.

    Our agency is responsible for 24/7 coverage serving a population of approximately 2,800 people.  We are located approximately 30 minutes southwest of Topeka on K31 Highway.  Osage City Police consists of seven full-time officers, including the Chief of Police.

    Applicants must exhibit the highest level of integrity, self-motivation, and a community-oriented mindset.  Applicants are required to have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

    The City has excellent benefits, including KPERS retirement, health (the city pays employee single plan), vision and dental insurance options, vacation, holiday, and sick leave.

    The salary range for Police Patrol Officer:
    $19 to $26 per hour, depending on experience, training, and qualifications.
    Paydays are bi-weekly on Fridays.

    The City of Smith Center is accepting applications for a full-time police officer.  Smith Center is a rural community with a population of approximately 1,500.

    The Independence Chief of Police is responsible for planning and directing the work of the department. A full list of job duties appears below, but beyond the technical skills and experience required, our ideal candidate will be a principled servant leader who models the behavior expected from the rest of the team; supports growth and development among officers; acknowledges excellent performance; leads with humility; effectively teaches, trains and carries out corrective action as needed; and represents the City of Independence positively as an engaged community citizen. The new chief will be encouraged to attend executive level training, such as the University of Kansas’ LELA Command Course or FBI National Academy. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develops rules and regulations for department 
    • Keeps City Manager informed of status of crime and investigations within the city 
    • Reviews daily criminal investigation reports 
    • Oversees the operation of patrol, investigations and public safety answering point call center 
    • Handles major investigations as required 
    • Develops departmental training programs 
    • Selects and recommends new employees 
    • Recommends and approves disciplinary actions and terminations 
    • Prepares budget estimates for the department and monitors expenditures 
    • Meets with civic groups 
    • Appears in court as required 
    • Performs additional duties as assigned 

    Qualifications:

    • Thorough knowledge of municipal police administration and organization 
    • Knowledge of the technical and operating principles, practices, and problems of law enforcement and crime prevention activities 
    • Knowledge of the laws governing custody of persons, search and seizure, Kansas criminal law, and the rules of evidence 
    • Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of varied activities within a police department 
    • Ability to analyze police problems and to plan policies and procedures 
    • Ability to command the respect of a number of police officers and to assign, direct, and evaluate their work 
    • Ability to appropriately plan and manage the department’s budget 
    • Ability to ensure vehicles, equipment and facilities are maintained properly 
    • Ability to ensure compliance with City safety policies 
    • Ability to maintain favorable working relations with City employees, employees and officials of other jurisdictions, and the general public

    Education and Experience

    • Completion of high school or GED required; bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field preferred
    • Ten years of law enforcement experience, including three years in a supervisory or lead capacity required
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is required

    Special Requirements

    • Kansas Class C driver’s license (Must not have any violations that City’s insurance carrier would deem uninsurable to drive a City vehicle)
    • Must be 21 years of age
    • Must have completed Basic Recruit Training with the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center
    • Must complete any advanced training as assigned, and maintain KLETC certification
    • Must meet KS-CPOST qualifications and meet minimum continuing education requirements
    • Must be available to work nights, overtime, in shifts, and weekends

    Physical Requirements

    Primarily moderate to occasionally intense physical effort is required. Individual must be able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, speak, and listen for extended periods of time.

    Working Conditions

    Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary Range (commensurate with experience and qualifications) $69,742-$101,130 Paid vacation and sick leave provided. 14 annual paid holidays.

    The Coffey County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a full time Corrections Officer.

    Duties will include, but are not limited to, taking care of inmates, booking in and releasing of inmates, transporting to court and doctor appointments, and applying basic medical needs, clean/maintain jail.

    Hourly pay could be higher depending on applicant’s qualifications and certifications. Corrections I salary ranges anywhere from $19.16-20.99 an hour plus benefits.

    The City of Ellsworth (pop 3000+) is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  Ellsworth is conveniently located only 7 miles from I-70, and 45 minutes from Salina and Great Bend, along with only a 30 min drive to two Kansas reservoirs (Wilson and Kanopolis).

    This position will be responsible for conducting law enforcement duties to include but not limited to patrol, investigations, as well as other assigned duties.  The Ellsworth Police Department covers the community 24 hours a day, seven days a week utilizing 12-hour shifts.  Shift schedules are normally comprised of two days on, two days off, then three days on which reverse every week.  The Ellsworth Police Department is comprised of 7 F/T Officers (including Chief) and 1 Court Clerk.       

    Hours: Full Time

    Salary: Starting salary for a non-certified law enforcement officer (Police Officer 1A) is $17 per hour. Starting salary for a certified law enforcement officer is dependent on qualifications (see below). 

    • Police Officer IA $17-$20
    • Police Officer 1B $18-$22+
    • Police Officer II  $18-$22+

    Starting January 2024, the Ellsworth Police Department began participating in the Kansas Police and Fire (KP&F) retirement system.  If you have not considered your current (KPERS) retirement plan, please do.  KP&F offers such a better return on investment and stability. The City of Ellsworth has 8 paid holidays in addition to giving 2 personal paid holidays each year.  The Department provides uniforms and equipment for each officer.

    Minimum requirements:

    The Paola Police Department is currently searching for motivated individuals for the full-time position of Police Officer.  The city of Paola Is located 18 miles south of Olathe, Kansas and the Greater Kansas City Metro Area.  The Paola Police Department consists of 18 sworn officers and 7 civilian employees, as well as its own communications and detention centers.  Those selected to fill this position will be responsible for enforcing local, state, and federal laws, investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic crashes, assisting the public, and serving on a TEAM that takes great pride in serving and protecting its community.  State certified officers are preferred but not required.

    The City of Garden Plain is seeking applications for the position of police officer. We are a community of 1000 population, when fully staffed we have two officers and the chief.

Fully commissioned/KCPOST certified preferred but will consider non-certified depending on pre-employment testing scores.

    Starting pay commensurate to qualifications of applicant/prior service. Non-certified wage starts at $20.00 per hour.  2024 pay plan is currently under study to commensurate with regional law enforcement salaries.  We offer personal time, vacation time, cell phone stipend and 11 paid holidays a year.
